I was driving to an Alfa club tech session today when I got a mild pang or regret about the Wagovan. The last time I’d driven that particular stretch of road was, in fact, in the Civic when we first discovered the fuel starvation issue.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I was right to sell that car.
But I also really like it.
I liked the way the interior was put together.
I liked the steering.
I liked the way the seats worked.
I just hated how hard it was to find parts.
I hated the hail dents.
But most of all I hated the engine.
So... briefly ... I thought that maybe I should have kept it and done an engine swap.
But I didn’t.
Because I don’t really believe in engine swaps.
The engine ran mostly fine.
And I don’t have the time, energy, or space.
Also I would never have got that money back out of it.
But... it would have been fun.
And I would have learned something.
But I sold it instead.
And here we are.

You wish you had kept a crappy, old, unreliable Japanese wagon? Who does that?!?

This is almost car guy poetry. I like it.

Lovely.
Work has been keeping me busy enough I haven’t had time to tear into the TODO list. Did get some more parts on order though. Going to take it errand running tomorrow. And MIGHT order it new shocks next month.

Should add I’m really looking forward to working on it (except the cooling system because fuck that) but also really like driving it so... it is hard to do what needs to be done.

Understandable. I was curious of the missing of the wagovan was partially due to disappointment with its “replacement” but it doesn’t sound like it. Having parts at the ready tends to help move things along, though.
I know what you mean about work keeping you busy, I’ve got a project with a crazy schedule going on as well, it’s hard sometimes to find time to do anything beyond the basic “stay alive” outside of work.

Nobody I would associate with, that's for sure.

Yeah, you were definitely right to sell it, just like I was right to sell my Roadmaster ... But dam n I miss that thing.
